As stories go...
... ours is a good one, and as all good stories go, it's both a little unusual, and true.
Once upon a time there was a private school, that thanks to our founder had won a state grant for 1 to 1 laptops. There was much rejoicing.
But the state could not, for complicated reasons, pay the funds directly that were meant to accompany the devices. And as such, the school had many devices and a huge amount of technology, with little support. The situation was grim, to the point that the furniture was collapsing beneath the weight of the accumulated damaged devices in for repair.
The school did not have the funds to bolster their existing personnel with additional full-time staff. Despair loomed, for it was very hard in those days to find qualified people for less than full-time work. The suggestion was offered that perhaps we might share a technician with another local school or two, thus lessening the local burden, while providing a service for our neighbors.
And then the phone began to ring, as schools 3 and 4 and eventually 10 and 20, called in, and asked circumspectly "I hear you're doing a thing, could we join?"
Some 15 years later, here we are, team of 20, with expertise across the non-profit space. Though our team are expert and wonderful as technologists and experts, even more importantly, we're joined by a sense of community and mission, knowing the work we do every single day is helping our communities.
